News about Steam
Okay, okay, okay, guys, okay.
As you all already know, this game called United by Love's Heart, made in Ren'Py with realistic graphics, is a remake of my original game Love's Heart, which had anime-style graphics and was made in RPG Maker MV.
There were several reasons that led me to make this remake, but the biggest one was that my original game Love's Heart was rejected on Steam. On top of that, itch.io has been punishing my account with constant quarantine for the past four months, so the game's visibility was practically zero—and looked like it was going to stay that way. So, I created a remake in Ren'Py for better workflow and player experience, to have an APK version for mobile, and to offer much better visual quality.
And most importantly, to be able to publish it on Steam and get much more visibility. However, I was afraid it would be rejected again, which is why I’ve been pretty nervous these past few days waiting for the review.
Well, guys. Today I received news.
The store page has been approved and should now be visible as “Coming Soon.” This alone isn’t huge news, since the store page of the original game was also approved. The important part is the build approval, which is what was rejected in the original game.
Now, about the build. It was rejected—but it wasn’t a total rejection where they block the game from Steam with no chance to appeal, like they did with the original. It was rejected simply because they found an error: I didn’t upload a trailer, which is a necessary step for approval. I actually did try to upload a trailer, but Steam wouldn’t finish processing it, gave me an error a couple of times, and in the end I thought I had managed to upload it—but apparently not.
The point is, the Steam reviewers looked over the build I submitted and they didn’t fully reject it! They just told me to upload a trailer! This should theoretically mean that once I do, the build will be approved for release—and United by Love’s Heart could be on Steam! I’m still not 100% sure, because it’s possible the reviewers just saw the trailer was missing and marked that as an error without actually reviewing the build. And maybe once they do review it, they’ll reject it and block the game. I have that fear, but honestly, it seems a bit unlikely—because I imagine that even if the trailer was missing, the reviewers still checked the build. And if it weren’t fit for publication, they would’ve rejected it outright like last time. Besides, why would they make the store page publicly visible if there was still a chance they’d reject the game? It doesn’t make sense, so the game will probably be accepted on Steam after all. I really hope so. I’m very nervous, honestly.
For now, the store page is already up and everyone can add it to their wishlist if they want. The game will be free, of course, but there will be a paid early access version with more content for those who want to support me financially with the game's development, just like with the original version. And without a doubt, it will get much faster updates now that it’s more comfortable to work on.
But first comes the new Yuri Demon update with chapter 7, which I’ve been working on for two months and still haven’t finished.
Once I make a new version of United by Love’s Heart, I’ll publish it on this account if the quarantine issue is resolved. Otherwise, I’ll publish it on my other account, called Love’s Heart.
After United by Love's Heart, the next game I’ll try to bring to Steam will be Lesbian Island. But first, please allow me to focus a bit on these ones.
I’ll keep you updated with any news.
