EXPLAINING MY SITUATION - PLEASE READ

For four months now at the time of publishing this devlog, my itch.io account has been constantly in quarantine. This means that if I update the page of any of my games for whatever reason: publishing new images, posting new updates, or even fixing a typo, my game will be put into quarantine immediately.

What does it mean that my game is put into quarantine? It means this:

1. My game will disappear from the search lists, which greatly affects its visibility and the growth of my account.
2. When someone tries to download it, they will see a message warning them that my game might be dangerous and/or contain viruses. I am attaching that image.
3. It will remain in this state for an indefinite time. It could be a week, a month, or even longer. A time during which my game will practically die, only seen by my community and unable to reach new people, which is crucial for growth.

I have been on the itch.io platform for three years and have never done anything that breaks the rules or gives reasons to suspect me. If my video games could contain viruses, I wouldn’t have been here so long or have more than 1000 followers currently. Unfortunately, about four months ago, I guess a false report from someone led the itch.io administration to take this precautionary measure against me. Why would someone make a false report against my games? Well, my games have sexual content, which I suppose is something not everyone likes.

Why hasn’t the itch.io administration lifted the quarantine on my account yet?

I’m afraid I don’t know. As I said, I have been enduring this situation for four months. I have sent many tickets to itch.io support, posted many messages on the forum asking for help, and even asked the admins in the official itch.io Discord server. The most I get is that the administration removes the quarantine from my affected games, but that’s useless because as soon as I modify the page of those games again, they go back into quarantine repeatedly.

I’m sure it’s not because I did something wrong. I have looked at other video games with sexual content on itch.io and they are not affected by any quarantine; they get updated again and again and remain perfectly in the search lists. This is not something happening only to me either. If you enter the itch.io Community, in the Questions & Support category, you will see new posts constantly, usually from creators asking for help because they have not received their monthly payment or because their games have not yet been indexed after a while. In my humble opinion, the itch.io administration must be composed of few people and they cannot attend to everyone quickly. I trust this is just a rough patch and the administration will eventually be able to assist people, even if it takes more time. Meanwhile, I have to do something to solve this situation on my own.

So, unfortunately, I cannot publish new updates of my games here. I know that right now, on the game’s page, there are download files. Those files are old and, as I said, I cannot replace them or even hide them because my game would be quarantined again.

Therefore, I kindly ask people not to download or buy the game from the download options the page offers because they are old and because I don’t know when my account will finally stop being quarantined and I can update them. Instead, please take a look at the devlogs of my games, that is, the posts I publish, like this one. I will use these devlogs to inform where to download the new updates of my games, which will be on my Patreon. I will always leave a link at the end of each post. The free updates will be shared on my Patreon in public posts so everyone can download them for free there. Paid updates will also be published on my Patreon, exclusive to the corresponding tier, whether tier 2 for $5 or tier 3 for $10. Usually it will be the $5 tier.

Personally, I recommend everyone subscribe at least to tier 2 on my Patreon, because it will not only give you access to the most recent updates of this video game but also to practically all the games I am currently working on; you will only have to pay once for several games. Of course, if you stay longer on my Patreon and support me financially every month, that would be best for me, as I could afford to invest more money in my games. But if not, just subscribing for one month can get you many of my games immediately.

My video game no longer looks like in the images on the game’s page; it has undergone many positive changes, especially the latest one, which consists of a redesign of some of the characters, as you can see here:

So, if you have paid for the most recent version of the game on itch.io, what happens? Do you have to pay again?

No. As I said, the best thing for me would be for you to support my Patreon. But if you have already made a payment through itch.io, you don’t need to subscribe to my Patreon to get the most recent version of the game again. Just contact me privately anywhere: my Patreon, my Discord, or by Gmail (capkygames@gmail.com) and send me a screenshot showing that you have previously purchased the game. Then I will send it to you privately. I understand this is annoying, but I’m afraid this whole situation is annoying for me too. Again, I apologize.
